The Excelsior Academy (formerly The Petchey Academy) 3rd July 2024

Sir Jack Petchey's legacy for young people is profound and enduring. His influence has touched countless lives, and his absence will be deeply felt. On behalf of The Excelsior Academy (formerly The Petchey Academy), we extend our heartfelt gratitude for all he has done for young people nationwide. He will be missed, but his kindness and generosity will be cherished forever. The Petchey Academy (now The Excelsior Academy) was established in 2006 on the site of the former Kingsland School with generous sponsorship from Sir Jack Petchey CBE, one of the UK's most successful businessmen and philanthropists. The academy was one of the first wave of Sponsor Academies created to address poor educational standards in inner city areas. Through the Academy Sir Jack Petchey CBE and The Petchey Foundation supported and inspired the lives of 10's of thousands of students. The unique ethos of the academy was inspired by Sir Jack’s maxim “If I think I can, I can”. We are extremely proud of our ties to the Jack Petchey Foundation, and the wide range of initiatives and awards that it enables our students to benefit from. Rest in Peace.
