Tribute to Sir Jack Petchey CBE
Harris Judo Club
We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Jack Petchey, he has given much to the London community and he will be sorely missed.
Harris Judo Club has been part of the Jack Petchey scheme for around twenty years. Our young students have been able to provide equipment to help with the running of the club and various trips for the young people to enjoy. Below is a photo of some of the things we were able to purchase.
T-Shirts and Hoodies to promote the club and also Jack Petechey, high impact crash mat camera equipment, dummies and medicine balls are just some for our purchases.
When COVID hit it was almost the death of our club and Jack Petchey was in no small part responsible for our survival. With physical contact not allowable we could maintain a core group working with dummies and medicine balls purchased with Jack Petechey monies.
The cameras were used to video these sessions and publish them on YouTube to encourage more players to return.
Our players have also been able to enjoy many trips funded by Jack Petechey
Thorpe Park
Howletts Zoo
Bowling
Go Ape
Go Karting
Cinema
The list goes on.
If this wasn’t enough, through the leader award scheme Jack Petchey has help fund our trip to Italy to train with a club in Potenza Picena and also hosting a visit from them to train at our club.
We owe a lot to Sir Jack and he will not be forgotten.
R.I.P Sir Jack
Love and respect from all at Harris Judo Club
