As a recipient of the award in 2013, Sir Jack Petchey gave my guide unit the opportunity to go away together to experience something new. The young members were all from a deprived area of the local town, so without his funding the weekend would not have been possible. He was such a remarkable man who cared so much about young people so he will be sorely missed by everyone whose path he crossed. My deepest sympathy goes to his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
